A new conference centre designed to develop networking and business opportunities within specialist industries has been opened at the Australian Marine Complex (AMC) in Henderson.
Launching the Jakovich Centre last night, Commerce and Science and Innovation Minister Bill Marmion said the facility would be a valuable resource for tenants, local businesses, education providers and the community.
“The Jakovich Centre will help to encourage strategic collaboration, innovation and enterprise in the marine, defence, oil and gas sectors,” Mr Marmion said.
“These sectors are vitally important for the future growth of Western Australia’s economy and creating innovative clusters helps to enhance opportunities for businesses working within them.
“The opening of the centre is another significant milestone in the evolution of the world-class AMC.”
The Jakovich Centre will provide professional business facilities, including function and conference rooms, with the aim of maximising commercial and networking opportunities for local businesses.
The AMC is an integrated industrial estate servicing the defence, marine, resource and petroleum sectors.
A recent $170million upgrade at the complex's Common User Facility (CUF) has seen the addition of the world's most technically advanced floating dock and transfer system.
Since opening in 2003, the CUF has generated more than $530million for the local economy through 261 projects.
