- More than 130 masterpieces by 96 modern and contemporary artists
Third exhibition in three-year partnership between MoMA and AGWA
Van Gogh, Dalí and Beyond exhibition opens to the public on June 22
West Australians will get a rare opportunity to view 134 internationally acclaimed masterpieces with the opening of an Australian exclusive exhibition on Saturday.
Culture and the Arts Minister John Day said the Van Gogh, Dalí and Beyond: The World Reimagined exhibition featured the works of some of the world’s most influential artists.
“This exhibition, developed by the Art Gallery of WA and The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, traces the reinvention of landscape, still life and portraiture across the 19th to 21st centuries,” Mr Day said.
“Visitors will be introduced to the pioneering artists who invented new ways to depict the people, places and objects of their times. This exhibition provides an incredible opportunity for visitors to view pieces from one of the world’s greatest collections of modern art, right here on our doorstep.”
Tourism Minister Kim Hames said the State Government was proud to support the MoMA series of exhibitions through Eventscorp.
“The MoMA exhibitions have become a much anticipated feature of the State’s events calendar,” Dr Hames said.
“The series has and will continue to contribute to the vibrancy of the city, especially the Cultural Centre, making it more attractive to locals and visitors alike.”
