Western Australian Seniors Card holders are being encouraged to take advantage of the State Government’s Cost of Living Rebate.
Seniors and Volunteering Minister Tony Simpson said WA Seniors Card holders had until Friday, May 31 to apply for the rebate.
“The Cost of Living Rebate is one of the ways the Government supports seniors. WA Seniors Card holders who have not previously applied for this rebate still have time to do so before the May 31 cut-off date,” Mr Simpson said.
“This year, seniors will share in $40million worth of rebates to offset the cost of living - with singles to receive $159.90 and couples $239.90.”
The Minister said seniors would begin to receive the payment in their bank accounts from late July.
The rebate is an annual payment introduced by the State Government in 2009 to help seniors with rising living expenses. Since 2009, more than $150million has been distributed to Western Australian seniors.
People who have received the rebate in previous years will automatically receive the payment this year and need not reapply.
Seniors can contact the Seniors Card Centre to receive a Cost of Living Rebate application form, either by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or phoning 6551 8800 or 1800 671 233 (country free call) on weekdays from 8.30am to 4.30pm.
